April Jaffe

British author. She only wrote three books, two of which are pony stories. Of the third (
Portrait Unfinished) I am not sure. One of her books, Satin and Silk, has the unenviable distinction of containing the most pony book cliches ever, according to our chat forum members!

Horse & Pony Books:

SATIN AND SILK
(HAMMOND 1948)
ILLUSTRATED BY G. SIFTON
SUMMARY: Anne rescues a neglected pony who, with care and training, turns into a winner. However things take a turn for the worse when the pony is stolen.

THE ENCHANTED HORSE
(HUTCHINSON 1953)
ILLUSTRATED BY CHARLOTTE HOUGH
Rare.

Collectors Info:
Satin and Silk can be found reasonably easily in the UK without its dust jacket but copies with jackets are quite rare and may be expensive. The Enchanted Horse is rarely seen.
